When I tell people I live in Minnesota, I am asked one of three things:
Have you ever met Prince? (no)
Isn’t it cold there? (during winter yes)
Isn’t that where they have that cherry sculpture? (yes)
There are few things in my state that are more iconic than ‘Spoonbridge and Cherry’ by Claes Oldenburg and Coosje van Bruggen. This and the Mall of America, I suppose. I think everyone in Minnesota will have at least one photo of themselves taken in front of this amazing work of art.
Last month’s photo shoot finally gave me a chance to have my picture with the sculpture. And of course I had the perfect dress for it.

Hey girlfriend! Just be thankful you don’t live in Northern Nevada. (1) They always mispronounce the state. (2) People they think we are on Mountain Time. (3) They don’t understand that Reno is not part of Las Vegas–it is 500 miles north of it and closer to San Francisco (250 miles west). (4) That Burning Man is an organization not a person. And (5), that’s it cold in the winter and snows here. Not Minnesota levels, obviously, but it’s the Sierra Nevada Mountain, you would think that would be a big hint. As for being trans here, I’ll let you figure that one out. Cheers!

Nice match with the sculpture and dress! I do have a MOA story: Several years back, I was returning from an industry meeting in San Antonio around the second week of December. (It is weird for a Minnesotan to be in San Antonio in December – 80 degrees, no snow, and Christmas decorations everywhere!). There was a group of about 4 people sitting across the aisle from me, loudly discussing their plans to fly to Minnesota to go Christmas shopping at MOA. Say what? San Antonio does not have enough shopping venues, you need to fly 1500 miles for that?
