Internet Odds and Ends

Well, maybe not plural odds and ends. Perhaps just one Odd and one End.

I am fascinated by sinking ships, in the metaphorical way. I worked for a college once that everyone knew was on the brink of closing. Like, at any minute. Some of my colleagues left as soon as the first sign of trouble appeared but I was morbidly curious about how things would play out. I stayed there until the day they laid off my entire department.

Obviously losing a job is stressful and I don’t mean to trivialize the situation.

However, watching management putting on a brave face and trying to reassure us that the school was still business as usual as we watched multiple investigations into our school announced was a weird experience.

Twitter (or X or whatever) is, well, kind of a shitshow right now. Some people have left but I am still hanging on. But the vibe right now is that the next time I tweet could be the last time I do so.

Other Twitter clones have popped up but they don’t seem to be, well, very good. I know Facebook has their stupid Threads thing and I am not a paranoid conspiracy theorist but I just don’t trust that guy.

The only new thing that seems to have any legs is Bluesky. There’s kind of a wait list for new accounts but a friend sent me an invitation so I was able to set up a profile.

I still will do most of my posting on Twitter but it’s nice to have a backup. Plus! I was able to secure the Hannah McKnight user name. Sorry, other Hannah McKnights.

If you’re on Bluesky, please follow me so I can follow you.

The other Odd or End, depending on your perspective, is I did an interview with Bored Panda recently. This was for an article about Red Pilling.

As someone who is getting closer and closer to my fifth decade, I am not always familiar with different and new slang terminology. Essentially Red Pilling is the moment a girl realizes the reality of just how creepy and misogynistic men can be (and yes, I know, Not All Men).

It’s not an article that is written in a very linear way and has contributions from other girls as well.

Love, Hannah
