Ask Hannah!

I haven’t been on my transgender journey for too long (Apologies, I know how you feel about the word “journey” used in that context. lol) and…well…I’ll get right to the point. I’m a plus sized gal and it has been exemely difficult for me to find clothes in my size. I’ve looked on pretty much all of the “so called” transgender clothing web sites and haven’t been able to find too much, AT ALL, that will fit me. What is a girl to do? My measurements are hips 50″, waist at navel 53″, waist below navel where belt line is 47″, chest 42″ and bust 48 – 49″.

Thank you Hannah and much love!!! Discovering you has made a real positive change in my life.

Hi!

Have you considered looking to designers that don’t specifically design for the gender nonconforming community? Obviously I love En Femme and shop with Xdress and the like, but I also get a lot of clothes from shops that are generally catering to cisgender women.

I have a lot of dresses from Dressbarn (super cute dresses, incredibly stupid name) and I find a lot of outfits on Amazon. Based on the measurements you provided, most designers and stores would consider you plus-sized and there are a lot of options out there for any girl of any size.

Torrid has a lot of cute clothes and they go up to size 30. Here’s their size chart:

Google seems to get smarter each day (which is a little terrifying) and searching for “dresses for fifty inch hips” does provide results.

Clothing sizes can be maddening and no matter how careful I am to order an outfit based on my measurements and the online size chart sometimes something just didn’t fit. Seamstresses can be helpful in some cases, too.

Love, Hannah

Have a question for me?  Oh yes you do.  Ask me here!

  1. Torrid has become my go to for clothing. They not only have great selections but their staff is ALWAYS welcoming and helpful, even bringing me their selections to my dressing room! Lastly, they’ve always got a huge clearance area full of options.
