From Atlantic to Pacific, Gee, the Traffic is AWFUL

The holidays are way more stressful than they should be.

I suppose when you combine family and planning and hosting and selecting gifts and destroying your budget, the stress shouldn’t be a surprise, but I feel that the end of year holidays, regardless of what you celebrate, should be a time of peace and rest and leisure.

I mean, I would love to tell my family that this year I will be staying in and reading and sleeping and hiding from the world for a few days instead of driving all over the state in winter weather but that would be a disaster. So, I’ll hit the road.

Knowing that the holidays are stressful, and let’s face it, not all of us can celebrate the holidays the way that we would like (in a super cute sparkly holiday dress), the MN T-Girls annual holiday party is a wonderful way for our group to relax and celebrate as we don our femme apparel.

Each year we rent a hotel room and eat yummy food and chat and impress each other with gorgeous outfits. Our party was held this weekend and it sadly had an element of frustration and stress that we all wanted to avoid.

This year we rented a room at a hotel in downtown Saint Paul. Buuuut I did not know that there were like a million different holiday events that were happening in the area on that particular day. This created an unprecedented level of traffic and stress and frustration that sadly prevented some girls from attending. I suppose sitting in deadlocked traffic for an hour when you are literally only a block from the hotel will destroy any amount of holiday cheer you are clinging onto.

The girls who did make were understandably flustered and annoyed. As the host I am responsible for helping guests feel comfortable and I regretted the poor planning on my part. For those who were impacted, I am sincerely sorry.

The party wasn’t all for naught. In fact, it was the biggest one (attendance wise) in years. All in all there were about twenty of us eating food and having girl talk and showing off our impossibly cute heels.

The holiday party is always the last event of the year and I wish I could say it went off without a hitch but I’d be lying if I did.

I hope the girls who were able to attend had fun, and I appreciate everyone who came and everyone who battled the traffic. I hope you enjoy the photos of some of the girls and we’ll try again next year.

Love, Hannah

  1. Thank you Hannah for hosting another great Holiday party. The traffic was an exciting experience while dolled up in my feminine best! Lol

  2. Not gonna lie, the traffic was rough. But the company and the friendship once we got there was well worth it! Thanks to Hannah and everyone else for making it a lovely evening!

    1. OMG that dress is amazing! I’m glad you had such a good time. Im super jelly…I would love to go somewhere just to hang with the girls and admire our shoe collections. It seems so pedestrian and yet so much fun. Well I’ll just have to be happy reading about it for now! (Lol)….

  3. So sorry for the bad traffic Hannah. I was a contributor as I was moving a family from St Paul to a NW suburb and was stuck in the mess too (and the 94 closure coupled with the light display at CHS field). I don’t know what future plans are and if we prefer to be in a DT, but Roseville has a bunch of conference style hotels that don’t get much attention during the weekend because they typically cater to business customers during the week. I always book visitors at the Delta, which is a Marriott property off of 35W. And you probably know about the Marriott Res Inn off Snelling. Delta has more glam furnishings and a King Suite. Thank you for hosting all the activities, celebrate your multitasking abilities and happy new year. – rebeka
