What a fun little morning this past Saturday was.
Life has been very overwhelming over the past few weeks and I have had some serious family matters that I have been giving my time and attention and energy to. Since family always comes first, many aspects of my life were, in a way, put on pause.
But difficult moments usually pass, and we find ourselves returning to our normal everyday lives and things that we weren’t able to direct our attention on slowly and gently re-enter our world.
Case in point, Milo Imagines the World, one of the new productions at the Children’s Theatre Company. Over the last year and a half, I have been fortunate to be a guest at their amazing shows and I was delighted to be invited to watch this play. If a play is based on something, such as a book, I do a little research to familiarize myself with the source material. But my energy and attention were directed elsewhere and I am, in a way, getting caught up on other aspects of my life.
But for Milo? Milo was a complete surprise. I thought it was based on a book (and it is!) but beyond that I didn’t know much. As the story played out, I realized how happy I was that I didn’t know anything about the show ahead of time.
Milo is an imaginative kid who entertains himself by drawing and thinking of stories about the people around him. Songs and music enhance Milo’s creativity and it’s just… charming. The story focuses on Milo (played by Toussaint Francois Battiste) and his sister, Adrienne (played by Antonisia Collins) who were a lot of fun to watch. They really really felt like siblings as they bounced back and forth between being annoyed with each other and genuinely caring for each other.

‘Milo’ is, in a way, about escaping into a world that is a little more fun than reality. After the difficult start to the year, spending time in someone’s imagination was exactly what I needed.
Thank you to the Children’s Theatre Company for the invitation and for the lovely morning.

That’s wonderful! Glad you were able to enjoy! I’m curious as to whether you had to go in drab or whether you got to go as the fabulous Ms. Hannah McKnight!
On a more serious note, sorry for the tough time you’ve been having, please know that your loyal and adoring fans are here for you in any way we can be!

Thank you!
Unless I am going somewhere en femme, I usually don’t leave the house, lol. It was me and my little black dress against the wind and snow and cold.
