Pillow Talk!

Hi! I have a new article for Pillow Talk, a series I am doing with Xdress

I am a huge believer in therapy… If you go with the right mindset and are committed to it. A therapist can’t help you if you are not taking it seriously or being honest with them.

Therapy was really important at different stages in my life, which is to be expected as we change as people and as our lives change as well. Did gender identity come up? Of course it did. Not because I was conflicted or confused or anxious or tormented by who I was or what I felt, but to, well, make sure I wasn’t in denial about something.

I believe that therapy can absolutely help an individual when it comes to all of *this*. The individual can be the person like us or our partners. To be clear, I don’t think therapy can or should or need to “cure” us. There is nothing inherently wrong with who we are. When we feel guilt about something, it’s usually a sign that we need support.

Therapy can help when it comes to communication about who we are. This communication can be between ourselves and our partners, or even the communication we have with ourselves. Accepting who we are is very important.

Therapy can help navigate aspects of our lives, whether it’s gender identity or other things we face in our lives.

Love, Hannah

  1. I see gender identity as a desirable move between wanting to spend half of Her time as female enfemme and the other half His time as male for his protection from others who would object .

  2. I agree, therapy can work wonders, but like so many things, you get out of it what you put into it. There are also couple’s therapists, so it might be something you and your wife can do together.
