Ask Hannah!

Hello Hannah. As men, specially older men, we spent most of our life wearing just the usual boring “boy” sneekers, shoes, boots or sandals, so our ankles have zero elasticity to wear all that beautiful variety of heels out there. What exercises if any did you do, or how did you prepare and how long did it take your feet to aquire the elasticity needed to be able to walk comfortably in your high stilettos?

Wearing heels, like almost everything in life, is something you learn by doing.

Walking comfortably and standing comfortably in heels requires building up a tolerance. Essentially the more you wear them, the easier it should get. It’s not only about fit, walking in heels requires working on your balance and your stride and your posture.

Of course, every heel and experience is different. Strutting on pavement in five inch stilettos is a different experience than wearing kitten heels on carpet. Choosing what you wear, if you want to be comfortable, requires taking into consideration what you will be doing.

Every pair of heels will likely require a different amount of time when it comes to getting used to them. Again, building tolerance is key.

Being comfortable in heels and walking in heels requires wearing the right heels. Every shoe is its unique size and there’s really no standard or consistency. Onlymaker and Pleaser are where I got most of my heels and I wear different sizes from both of them.

Yes, we all want to wear a size 8 heel but these numbers are arbitrary and mean nothing so wear the heels that fit, not the heels you WANT to fit.

Love, Hannah
