Pillow Talk!

Hi! I have a new article for Pillow Talk, a series I am doing with Xdress!

I get a lot of questions about makeup and I wish I could be more helpful with answering it as my response is almost always encouraging someone to book a makeup lesson.

There are SO many things to consider when it comes to makeup. Skin color, skin type, face shape, products, budget, the look someone is going for… There is no one size fits all approach when it comes to makeup.

Since I can’t help someone with the actual practical aspect of learning makeup, the conversation shifts to helping someone find the courage to step out of their comfort zone and meet with a professional makeup artist. This is a huge step and I know that not everyone is ready to do that.

However, every aspect of this, whether it’s makeup or clothes or coming out to someone requires us to leave said comfort zone.

I’ve been there and I can remember how terrifying it was to leave. But I have always been glad I did.

Love, Hannah

  1. There are also a number of really good tutorials online. There are a few on You Tube that are good for starters, but really the best way to learn is to try. Yes, that does mean a lot of experimentation and making quite a few mistakes. Don’t worry, just be prepared to look silly a few times, or be prepared to start completely over. There’s nothing wrong with messing up, just try not to experiment too much before you go out.
