I DID IT. I survived 2025. And you did too. Nice!

Of course, this is a little dramatic but not too far off the mark. As an autistic transgender person, there was a LOT of discussion about whether or not I deserve basic human decency. I’m tired and disgusted by the angry mob that the president is directing towards other human beings. The “pro-life party” sure wants a lot of people dead.

This demonization of autistic people by our woefully unqualified and cruel Secretary of Health and Human Services is pretty damn infuriating. The fear-mongering of non-binary people is… well, it’s a lot of things.
I look forward to a time where we don’t have to say that we survived the year and instead we can say we thrived.
Will things get worse? Oh, probably. Will 2026 bring war and a recession? I wouldn’t be surprised.
But for now, just for today, let’s just pretend that this is fine. Everything is fine.
Was it a good year? Hm. Well, as some pilots will tell you, every landing you can walk away from is a good landing. We survived the last twelve months and we have the scars (emotional and otherwise) to prove it. Perhaps they are badges of honor.
There were a lot of big moments on a personal level in 2025. We had two family members pass away within nineteen days of each other earlier this year. One wasn’t completely unexpected, the other we are still reeling from.
I traveled for work much more often than I usually do. I will be on a plane tomorrow, in fact. My horrible boss was fired and was replaced by a new boss who is horrible in new and different ways.
I had a lot of fun adventures en femme and wonderful things happened in my male life.
Like Lou Reed wrote, “There’s a bit of magic in everything and then some loss to even things out.”
Happy New Year. I hope 2026 brings us all closer to what we wish for.
Well, maybe not ALL of us lol. If you’re racist or horrible in other ways, I really hope karma kicks your ass.
Love, Hannah
