A Treasured Evening

I love fall for a number of reasons, but my one of my favorite reasons is that September marks the beginning of the season for the Children’s Theatre Company. I have been so so so lucky to be invited for each new show for the last few years or so.

I know I say this a lot, but their new play is probably my favorite out of all the shows I’ve seen. The 2025/2026 season starts with ‘Treasure Island‘ and oh, it’s wonderful. It’s unlike any production I have seen here.

Most of the plays I’ve seen have been wonderfully balanced between story and humor and whimsy. But ‘Treasure Island’ is a whole new level. It’s serious, it’s thrilling, it’s tense. It doesn’t pull its punches.

And! It has a parrot puppet.

Although it feels more mature than other shows I’ve seen (such as ‘The Grinch’ and ‘Alice in Wonderland’), it’s perfect for anyone that loves adventure. The special effects were well done, the stage was amazing, and the acting! John Silver was a stand out, full of charm and swagger and mischief.

‘Treasure Island’ runs until October 19th and I encourage you to call your mateys and go see this wonderful show.

Thank you to the Children’s Theatre for a wonderful evening.

Love, Hannah

  1. FYI, turns out you can read a lot of classics like Treasure Island for free on most e-book platforms. I made it about halfway through in a couple hours this weekend. The story is so well paced and efficient, it feels very modern for a novel written almost 150 years ago. It’s one of those classics that is a classic for a reason. Highly recommended!
