Live Your Best Life

I have a new article for The Breast Form Store!

I wrote this article a few weeks ago, maybe even more than a month ago. In rereading it now I think I should have titled it “Live Your Best Life, As Best You Can”.

Or perhaps, “Live Your Best Life, While You Still Can”.

Life can move in a steady, predictable direction, but can change at whiplash speed and suddenly you are going the wrong way. I embraced who I was about fifteen years ago, and my life has become more fulfilling since I started to live my life in a more authentic way. Because of this, I am more intuned with the realities and threats that queer people face.

For a while it seemed that our community was relatively safe (or at least heading in that direction) when it came to equality. But things can change quickly. It’s disheartening (at the very, VERY least), to hear that influential organizations are attempting to label transgender people as terrorists.

Who knows if it will happen, but it’s a possibility. It’s depressing to live in a world where it IS a possibility, regardless of how likely it is.

When I go out en femme I still have my guard up as I always do, but ten years ago I was more afraid of being harassed, but these days my fears have shifted to being arrested.

I need to live my life before it’s too late.

I need to live my life while I still can.

Love, Hannah

  1. I don’t feel it will ever get to such extremes. There is a lot of noise out there online by some who want to stir up a bunch of BS but I still feel safe
Yes we need to be visible and continue to stand up for ourselves

  2. A man wanting to wear a dress may be regarded by some as rather harmless eccentric behavior but wanting shoot at somebody is a bit different

  3. Definitely live your best life, but try not to live in fear. That doesn’t mean to take unnecessary chances, but don’t live in fear. Living in fear is what they want. They want us in the closet. They want us in fear. They want us making them comfortable, they’re not worried about how we feel. In fact, they want us uncomfortable, they want us to be worried any time we step out in the way that makes us feel comfortable. That’s why they make this about bathrooms and such. So that people are in fear on all sides. That’s why we need to be out best selves and live our best lives.
