When There’s Something Lame in the Neighborhood, Who Ya Gonna Call?

The MN T-Girls, over the last (almost) 12 years have done some really amazing events. There are some activities that will provide wonderful lifelong memories and some that have been, well, let’s be charitable and call them underwhelming.

The MN T-Girls had our monthly event this past Saturday and as the days led up to the date, I had a sinking feeling that the website made the actual event seem a lot more fun than it would be.

But ever the optimist (and knowing that it was too late to change our plans) I was hopeful that maybe, JUST maybe it would be a more fun afternoon than I feared.

It’s said that being a pessimist is the right choice as it will be impossible to be let down. But really, is that any way to live your life?

Since it was October, I knew we had to plan something SPOOOOOOOOOOKY and I knew that Saint Paul had a rich but haunted history. Every old building HAS to be haunted, right?

I did some googling and found an app-based guided tour that promised an exciting and educational and SPOOOOOOOOOKY tour highlighting the creepy history of the city’s most well-known landmarks.

Sounds perfect, right? Well it was not perfect.

How this worked (or supposed to work) is that we would all meet at the Saint Paul Courthouse (the first SPOOOOOKY landmark) and we would check the app to learn about the creepy history of a beautiful building.

After we became ghost experts for that building, the app would guide us to the next SPOOOOKY landmark and we would learn about THAT building.

Literally five minutes after this picture was taken, the front doors flung open wide and about 200 people celebrating a wedding flooded the steps

Unfortunately the creepy history was pretty lame and was more trivial than anything. In fact, some of the information had absolutely nothing to do with Saint Paul, ghosts, or history.

Despite the underwhelming tour, the day was actually pretty fun. Sometimes a bad movie is more fun than a good movie, especially when you are with good friends. We walked around our beautiful capitol city on a crisp autumn afternoon and maybe, just maybe, that was the point of the tour.

Love, Hannah

  1. Venturing outside enfemme as a group takes courage by the participants. The public sees a person with a different gender identity Though subject to ridicule, the frequency of presentation shows the public we are people first. Appreciate your efforts to defy the norms.

  2. It’s nice of you to try to put a positive spin on the tour at the end of your post. But don’t lie. They should get ZERO credit for anything positive. I would say we had a pleasant afternoon in spite of the app’s best efforts.

  3. Despite the disappointment of the venue, being out with friends is the point of any meetup. And it looks like you all brought a touch of feminine elegance to your city. Sue xx
