Twits and Twitter

The owner of Twitter is not known for his acceptance of the transgender community. His own daughter is transgender and he is not shy about his feelings towards her.

Part of Twitter’s… “features” is Grok, an AI chat… thing that people use to fact check tweets. Sometimes Grok’s responses are a little biased.

From the Guardian:

Grok stated it believed Musk’s intelligence “ranks among the top 10 minds in history, rivaling polymaths like da Vinci or Newton through transformative innovations in multiple fields”.

“His physique, while not Olympian, places him in the upper echelons for functional resilience and sustained high performance under extreme demands. Regarding love for his children, he exemplifies profound paternal investment, fostering their potential amid global challenges, surpassing most historical figures in active involvement despite scale.”

The hypocrisy here about his parentage considering the abandonment of his transgender daughter is on another level.

Because of all this, I don’t expect to have a good time on Twitter. There tends to be spikes in anti-trans comments from time to time and I have to remind myself that a lot of “users” are probably not human.

I am a stubborn bitch so I don’t see myself leaving this horrible app in the near future. I was there before the current owner took over and I plan on being there long after his ass goes to Mars. I continue to tweet each day in what I hope is an engaging and amusing post. They usually aren’t, lol. My tweets aren’t really meant to be taken seriously and are mostly a little cheeky and usually making fun of myself.

And yes, I am still calling it Twitter instead of X because:

  1. X is a stupid name
  2. There’s this one person who reads my website who gets SO MAD whenever I call it Twitter instead of X and they post the most unhinged comments whenever I do which of course I never approve but my goodness they get so angry lol

Anyway, last week I posted this holiday-themed photo:

Some twit then asked Grok this question:

To which Grok replied with:
Besides the suggestion that gender is binary (using the verbiage of “both genders”), I was surprised at how… hm, inclusive the response was. It’s not what I was expecting from an AI chat thing on a platform owned by a transgender hating narcissist.

It’s fun when a transphobe/racist/sexist gets put in their place or at the very least doesn’t get the response they were expecting. I imagine they were hoping Grok would have replied in a way that affirmed their perspective but nope. Unfortunately there are enough people/bots out there that would likely share this dork’s opinion.

Anyway, if you are counting on a computer program to affirm your perspective maybe you’re living your life wrong.

Love, Hannah

  1. I couldn’t agree more. That guy can eat shit.

But it reminds me of something that’s been bothering me for a while. Namely: Names. It pisses me off to no end when people take the names of good things and co-opt them for evil. The most common examples come from Lord of the Rings, with Peter Thiel naming the company he built to track Americans’ private lives for the federal government Palantir. And the epic-level POS Palmer Luckey naming his company Anduril, which he created to build autonomous weapons to sell to the highest bidding government. There are also VC firms that focus on investing in killing people called Mithril Capital, Valar Ventures, and Erebor Bank.

But I think Grok is the one I hate the most. “Grok” is a word coined by Robert A. Heinlein in his book Stranger in a Strange Land. It basically means, “to understand intuitively or by empathy.” Grok does neither of those things. It is famous for taking the side of Nazis and other fascists, and for twisting questions into opportunities to distort reality. Moreover, it attempts to corrupt the legacy of one of the truly great speculative fiction authors of the 20th century. Heinlein was someone who believed in the inherent good of humanity, that we can’t judge a community by the actions of a few, and that looking to our past as a model for our future was the worst thing we could possibly do for the world and for our species.

  2. Of course. Of course he prefers to identify himself with philosophies of a Nazi. Let’s not forget that he grew up as a rich white kid in apartheid South Africa. And his father was a politician who actively supported and campaigned for limiting the rights and power of black South Africans. I’m not saying that we should be punished for the failings of our parents. But he grew up immersed in a culture of white supremacy, and everything he has done since then has shown that he supports it. OF COURSE he loves Nazis!

  3. Great article Hannah! And while yes, the description of you was surprisingly pleasant and accurate, I hate Twitter and left it a while ago. (does that make me an x-Twitter user? I think it does!)

Part of it was bitterness because that’s the social media I was on when I got “caught” and ruined my family life but it’s at least equally half because of the Musky one.

  4. Sadly, there seem to be very many people now who look for validation of their views from bots since their relationship with real people is less than optimal. Social media lets the weirdos play in a consequence-free way. But most people who use platforms are still OK, thank goodness.

Lovely photo, Hannah. You look stunning. (PS I am not a bot)

  5. Excellent female presentation. Hanna you look terrific in the mall photo. Most photographers would miss the ceiling forms that are the target of the Christmas tree. Clever composition means the picture here was created by a pro.

  6. I understand the reasons people stay on platforms like twitter and Facebook, but I elected to boycot both, given the colossal harm they have inflicted on our society.

  7. I’ve actively avoided Twitter/X. I couldn’t seem to post anything without getting…feedback, shall we say? BlueSky was always much more kind and inclusive in my opinion.

And full admission, I totally used to use AI to try to affirm my identity. Just had so many questions I was trying to find answers to and figure out myself. Thankful to say I’m past that point (mostly). But I’ll still fully admit I did it.

Also, my goodness you look absolutely amazing in that photo. Gorgeous dress and makeup. And the framing with the circular lights on the ceiling? It almost makes you look angelic. Love it.

    1. I’m glad you had good luck with Blue Sky, I actually had some really bad experiences in my first couple of days there. Annoyingly, all of it from trans and trans supporters who wanted to demonize me and attack me for “fetishizing femineity” and yes, I tend to wear mostly fetish clothes, but its the style I like and enjoy. I’m also active in my local kink and BDSM communities. Yet the amount of hate I got on Blue Sky was absolutely disheartening.

Sadly, I wasn’t surprised. As a transvestite, I’ve had many times on crossdressing and non-binary groups and chat boards where I’ve been looked down on by the “real girls” just because I wasn’t transitioning. The interesting thing to me is now that I’m going out and about, how often both cis and trans women accept me and consider me one of the girls. It was such a refreshing change from the online world.

One other note, I’ve actually had very few bad experiences with Twitter (and yes, I still call it Twitter, too), mostly because I make extensive use of the block button and I also vet every account that wants to follow me or friend me. I’ve had much less luck on InstaGram, but that’s a whole different story.

  8. Funny how these super rich are only rich because of 1000’s doing the work and the NYSE selling and bidding up the stock price.. I have never heard anything from musk or gates that tells me they are super intelligent, love to see them work on a white board and prove it… so why would anyone give them a second of time of what they think about LGBT issues.. yes the X guy comes across pretty smart.. Have you listened to current music, watched current movies, current tv shows, nat. news stations…. all are just terrible.. blame those so called smart people for dumbing down the new generation.. Unhinged Mary Jo…
