Ask Hannah!

I love your site, your advice, and of your pics, and hope you are doing well. In a couple of weeks I am going to be in Minneapolis for work and was thinking of taking a day to myself to be my fem me while there. I have been out some before (at night, driving, etc.) but have never really interacted with people and am still working on makeup and having the right wig and clothes to really be my best femme self. Any advice for when I come into town on where to go or what to do? Thanks in advance!

I suppose it all comes down to what you like to do. Museums? Sporting events? Live music? Shopping? The Twin Cities have a lot of options and I don’t think you necessarily need to limit your adventures to LGBTQ+ specific places.

I have some resources here when it comes to makeup and photography, but if you’re looking for nightlife, specifically when it comes to queer bars, you may want to check out Roxy’s Cabaret, Lush, and Black Hart.

Another idea is to consider some of the places the MN T-Girls have visited, such as cafes and the like.

I hope this is helpful! If anyone has any ideas, please comment!

Love, Hannah

  1. This is just my personal opinion/experience. I am not into going to places where it’s best to be with someone like social enviroments like coffee/eating places if out alone. I find it very easy and relaxing to be out window/actual shopping at Goodwill/Thrift type stores and even ROSS Dress for less is a comfortable store to go to as you can be out, usually around women also shopping in a non threatening enviroment. You can just be out alone and don’t feel like you should be with someone.. I now go out anywhere and everywhere.. One thing you can do that no one thinks of is wear a pair of pretty/feminine eye glasses…just a pair with plain plastic if you don’t need prescription lense. If you are a masculon, chizled, good looking guy, just forgetta aboutit and disregard above advice.. PS. Don’t take spelling or writing classes from me.. Mary Jo
