A T-Girl Needs to Shine

I know I stand out.

Not because I am a goddess or the most beautiful girl on the planet, no, I stand out because I am a six foot tall (without heels, and I am never without heels) t-girl who is likely the most overdressed person wherever I am.  I can’t change who I am, so I may as well embrace it and make it work.

For a long time I was afraid to go out because I didn’t “pass” (because there’s no such thing) or blend in.  After a while I was tired of this keeping me from experiencing the world in the way I wanted so I left the house and never looked back.

Some days I stand out a little more because I want to stand out a little more.

I like wearing leather and I have dresses in my wardrobe that might turn a head at the mall, but would barely cause someone to bat an eyelash at a club.  Again, there are times I want to be noticed more than usual.

This dress is designed to get you noticed.  Anywhere.  Ladies, I present to you Glamour Boutique‘s Long Sleeve PVC Dress

045

I have a lot of dresses in my closet that I would consider pretty bold, but I think this outshines (literally, look at that glossy finish!) them all.  Made out of PVC, this dress shines bright which is not easy for a black dress to do.

046

It’s not always easy for a t-girl to find a dress that fits comfortably across the shoulders and has sleeves that are long enough, so I was thrilled to find that this dress fits like a dream.  PVC/latex/rubber/vinyl/leather are not very forgiving so finding a dress made out of these materials that fits isn’t always easy.  This dress was designed for girls like us and runs true to size.  Take your measurements before ordering.

044

Wearing a dress made out of material like this can be a little challenging, but it has a two-way zipper on the front and zips up or down the entire dress.  Simply step into it, and zip it all the way up.

If you want.

The dress is a lot more versatile than it appears as you can adjust how much cleavage or leg you want to show off.036

This is not a dress to wear while running errands.  This is a dress that, to be honest, is not designed to be practical.  Due to the PVC material, the dress is a little… noisy and doesn’t have a lot of stretch in the shoulders once you put it on.

049

But that’s not a bad thing.  There are some dresses I wear that show off my legs or my figure.  These are not dresses I wear to the mall and I think every girl needs a few outfits that are designed to do nothing except get you noticed.  Pairing any dress with fishnets and stilettos will give any outfit extra allure and this is no exception.

There’s no question that a dress like this makes a statement.  Whatever that statement is is up to you.  This is a super fun and super sexy dress.  Yes, not a dress to wear to Target, but it certainly inspired me to think of all the places where I could go in it.  🙂

The New Little Black Dress

I love how clothes can change…everything.  I love how certain patterns, colors, and styles can minimize or enhance certain characteristics of our body.  Black tends to be slimming, dresses with larger prints are usually flattering to us tall girls, and a skirt with horizontal strips can balance out a body that is considered top-heavy.

Of course, you should wear whatever you want.  There is also no standard one must meet to be beautiful or feminine.

That being said, I have always loved what peplum tops and dresses do for my figure.  Peplum dresses and tops have an extra piece of fabric that flares out around your hips.  Peplum style clothing is very versatile as it gives the appearance of hips to those who lack curves, but for those who are a little shapely it draws attention to other parts of our body.

Glamour Boutique recently sent me several dresses to model and to review and I am excited to share with you the first of those outfits.  I have modeled for Glamour Boutique in the past and I am excited to continue to work with them.

When I first started to build my wardrobe, I tended to gravitate towards black dresses as they were not only slimming, but they also gave off a sense of sophistication and class.  After a while, I drifted more towards brighter colors, bold patterns, and different styles.  I hadn’t added a black dress to my closet in years and I was at a point where it would take a really amazing black dress to be added to my closet…

…Such as Glamour Boutique’s Black Crossdresser Peplum Dress.  I looked at this dress on their website and I thought it looked cute, but nothing too spectacular.  When I opened the package the dress came in I was struck by how the photos didn’t really do it justice.  The dress was cuter than it appeared to be.

And then I tried it on.

Wow.  The dress gives me a little more curve, and the skirt is short enough (always a plus in my opinion) to show off my legs.  The top of me is pretty square-shaped so its not easy for me to pull off a hourglass look, but the cute little flare that cinches around my waist gives my body a lot more shape.

072

The bottom of the dress is in the style of a pencil skirt and it’s meant to be tight and straight.  This style helps even out my square shoulders and gives me an overall proportional look.  If you are tall like I am, it’s usually recommended to not pair a peplum look with heels, because this style can accentuate height, but as you can see I kept my stilettos and paired this dress with black stockings for a classic look.

The dress itself is true to size and when you order it please take your measurements correctly.  I went back and forth between two sizes and went for a size up and I am glad I did.  If a dress that is my size doesn’t fit me its usually because of the shoulders and not the hips, however this dress fit like a dream.  I was comfortable in it, I looked good in it, and even though I don’t drink, I felt like going to a cocktail party.

This is a fun, flirty dress.  The peplum style adds a little extra to the traditional little black dress but does not take away any of the style, timelessness, and sophistication.  I am so happy this is in my closet and I am excited to show it off the next time I go out to dinner.

Spring Photo Shoot!

Can you think of a more fun way to spend a Friday afternoon than getting a makeover from Corrie Dubay and then going to a photo shoot with Shannonlee?  Because I sure can’t!

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

This was a little different than other shoots I’ve done in the past.  This session was all about photos for product reviews from The Breast Form Store and Glamour Boutique.

I’ll be posting photos and reviews for some items over the next few weeks.  I’m actually wearing one of the products in the photos above and I can honestly say it has changed my life.  And no, it’s not the dress.  🙂

In the meantime, if there are any products or clothes that you would like reviewed, please email or comment below!

My eyes are up here, boys

I really want a nice breast form plate!   I have a more masculine chest and neck and would like it covered!   Do you have any suggestion! Price is not a problem just want something that looks real and is quality!   It will really help with my confidence!

Thank you so much!

I don’t have much experience using forms or padding, though I (finally) started wearing breast forms about a year ago.  I actually really like them and I am surprised at how natural they look and feel.  I resisted them for a very long time as I wanted to be as natural as possible but I really feel that my forms are a part of me.  I was afraid that they would unattach or create some sort of wardrobe malfunction but no worries yet!

Suddenly Femme (also known as The Breast Form Store) sells a rather large variety of breast forms and breast plates, including one that looks rather convincing.  I’m glad price isn’t an issue, though.  🙂

Glamour Boutique also has an array of options.  They have a really nice page dedicated to reviews of different options that I would recommend you look into.

I hope you find one that you like!  If any readers have any suggestions please comment!

Have a question for me?  Oh yes you do.  Ask me here!

Have you ever thought about modeling as a bride for one of your photo shoots?  I know you’ve modeled before, so I was just curious.

I would love to do a photo shoot as a bride or a bridesmaid!  I’ve done quite a few shoots over the past few years both solo and with the MN T-Girls, and I am lucky to work with Shannonlee, an amazing photographer and the shoots are always better when Corrie does my makeup.

I also had the honor to work with Christie Williams of Grinkie Girls in March of 2018.

A few years ago I did modeling for Glamour Boutique and it was so much fun.

I would love to do more modeling, period.  Last year I did some writing for Xdress and I was confused and disappointed when all of a sudden our partnership stopped.  I thought it would be fun to model for them and I did a shoot modeling one of their dresses.  I thought if Shannonlee and I put together a small portfolio it might entice them for modeling work but as the partnership dissipated without knowing why, my enthusiasm for the project died with it.

But here are a couple pictures from that day:

But back to your question.  Yes, I would love to a do a bridal shoot!  I am becoming more drawn to “theme” shoots where I model one or two dresses in a really beautiful location.  The problem with a bridal shoot is that the dresses tend to be expensive and I can’t bring myself to spending that much money on one.  Ideally I would love to do a series of photos with me shopping for a dress and trying different ones on.  I would follow it up with perhaps a series of getting a makeover and then a shoot with the dress itself.

So, unless someone wants to buy me a gown, I am not sure that will happen anytime soon, but a t-girl can dream.  🙂

Behind the Scenes!

In the fall of 2016, I started modeling for Glamour Boutique, a store that specifically caters to the crossdresser and transgender community.  Not too long ago, they interviewed me for for their blog and soon we started talking about doing some modeling for their new line of clothing.  The photos were taken by the always fabulous Shannonlee.  Shannonlee and I have done quite a few shoots in the past and I was thrilled to work with her again!

Here are some pictures of some of the behind the scenes action and candid moments.  It was such a fun day and you can see the final photos here.  Fun fact, the little tears in the paper are puncture holes from the stilletos I wore all day.  Those heels were high and are serious business!
