Ask Hannah!

I hate throwing old panties away; I have multiple drawers full of panties that I love and still wear sometimes; how often do you throw old panties away that you feel are out of style?

I don’t really pay attention to what is in style. Styles come and go so quickly that it’s hard, if not pointless to keep up. Besides, trends always come back. If you hang onto something there’s a good chance that it will once again be fashionable.

I just wear what I want. I mean, I am over six feet tall and I’m a t-girl, so chances are I’ll stand out and I think the fashion choices I make aren’t going to be the thing people notice. I doubt anyone will see me and think that the peplum dress I’m wearing went out of style three months ago.

As for panties, do they really go in or out of style? Panties, for the most part, are usually only seen by the wearer so most people probably don’t know what one is wearing under their skirt (or boy clothes) so it’s pretty unlikely someone will see them, let alone think if they are or they are still trendy.

Wear what you please, especially panties.

But like you, I have multiple drawers of panties. Do I have more than I need? Yes. Do I have pairs I will likely never wear again? Yes. Do I pave pairs that I bought to be the fifth selection when Victoria’s Secret does their “Five Panties for $25” sale? Yes.

But I very rarely toss clothes anymore. I have dresses in storage that I bought once for a photo shoot or that I was sent for a review that I might not wear again. I suppose I could donate them buuuut they are in storage and I’m lazy, lol.

I think we all can relate to clothes being very sentimental to us. Many of our clothes mean something… whether it’s a skirt we bought the first time we went to the mall en femme or the bodycon dress we worked up the courage to wear on a night out. Going through my closet is a strut and a meander down memory lane. I like being reminded of many of the things that a dress triggers.

Fashion trends might bring a style to my attention but I don’t let what is or is not in style to guide me with what I wear.

Love, Hannah

  1. I have never followed trends and buy clothes that fit and look good on me. I am also over 6 feet tall with a slender figure so finding clothes can be challenging. Keep in mind that “trends” are driven by clothing designers to generate sales. Some good, some awful. Same mentality that we need a new car every few years. Nothing against those that feel the need to stay with trends, however, hard on the planet. Take care of your things and they can last forever…….maybe not the panties. But do panties really change much from year to year? Kind of like a tire. Only so many changes can be made to the design.

  2. Btw, I will take comfort over style any day. Many pretty panties that would be so uncomfortable to wear! Believe it or not, Fruit of the Loom makes a great cotton underwear that is cute and easily accommodates all of me without detracting from my femininity. Might not win a fashion show but absolutely love the feel. They are for me to enjoy!

  3. I’m one who will look at my panty drawer and think ok I don’t wear them much if at all anymore
And maybe I can find some cuter ones
So yes I do on occasion throw away a few pairs to make room for new ones
But I do keep them a long time but nothing like a new cute style and color

  4. I toss panties when: 1) They begin to show any signs of wear (in part because I love, love, love NEW panties. 2) If I buy new panties that are not bought as a replacement for ones I’ve already tossed, I choose panties to get rid of — in other words, new panties in, old panties out!

I have only one drawer devoted to panties and I see no need to keep panties I am not going to wear (or to deny myself the pleasure of new panties).

  5. I recycle my old panties as exercise wear. Once they have done a good stint as both everyday wear and exercise wear, I dispose of them respectfully. 🙂

  6. I throw old panties away once they begin to show wear. I love to get new panties, and, for the most part, stick to a policy of “new panties in/old panties out.” That way my one panty drawer remains reasonably organized and I never have “too” many (although I do probably have more than my wife. 🙂 Nancy

Many of our clothes mean something… especially my first dress I bought on line a size 10 print sheath about 5 years ago… I try it on every few months and feel so feminine that it still shows off my”girly curves” and after 5 years it looks & feels so good lol
