Ask Hannah!

I am a 70+ CD who finally wants to venture out to my nearby mall.. I am sure an LBD is not appropriate what would you recommend my wig and accessories notwithstanding??

Why isn’t an LBD appropriate? They are timeless and beautiful.

I mean, yes, you might be overdressed compared to the others, but is that a bad thing? I think an LBD fits within the realm, if you will, of what is appropriate for shopping or most outings. I would, and I have, totally wear a little black dress to the mall.

I know I am likely overdressed for most places I go to. Most people running errands or spending the day shopping are choosing to wear comfortable clothes. I mean, I can relate. When I am in male mode and having to go places I am likely wearing a t-shirt and jeans, not a suit.

But a t-girl? Oh, we think about and dream about our heels and outfit for weeks. We are thrilled at the opportunity to dress and many of us want to wear a dress or an outfit that might be a little overdressed compared to others at the mall or coffee shop.

Rock that LBD, girl.

Love, Hannah

  1. If it makes you feel and look great that’s all that matters.

  2. Full disclosure, I have a preference for blending in to the extent that a person 6’2” can blend in. Of course, dress in a manner you like. Still, for your first trip to this mall, I would suggest dressing in a manner comparable with the other women at this particular mall and this season. That can range quite a bit from one location to another.

Beyond that, relax. You’ll enjoy the experience of freedom and perhaps a cup of coffee 🙂
