VOTE VOTE VOTE VOTE VOTE

Wearing red but voting blue

I don’t think it’s a surprise to anyone that I am voting for Kamala Harris.

The orange idiot’s whole thing is to divide humans against one another. This is done through rhetoric, policy, fear, and lies. The majority of what was once the Republican party has essentially fallen in line with this approach.

We saw what his presidency was like and he’s telling us what his next term will be like, whether it’s promising to be a dictator for just one day (and if you believe that it would be for only one day, I don’t know what to tell you) or other horrible actions.

Our community has never needed his help when it comes to demonizing us, but under his presidency it will only get worse. Recent comments include the insane idea that a kid goes to school and comes back as a different gender and that gender affirmation procedures are being done on people in prison.

Comments like this are absolutely intended to turn others against us.

This is evident in two recent events. The first is what has happened in Odessa, Texas. Transgender people using the bathroom has been a topic in regards to fearmongering for decades, but Odessa has proposed a law that, according to Reform Austin, will fine(s) people $500 for using the bathroom non-consistent with their gender assigned at birth and makes them eligible for trespassing charges. It also allows people to sue the bathroom user for up to $10,000 in damages, possibly turning the law into another bounty hunting vehicle similar to the state’s abortion ban.

This, in a way, opens the discussion about what a woman is “supposed” to look like. Cisgender women have been accused and attacked for being transgender and for what reason? They didn’t fit the arbitrary standards that some unhinged idiot had?

Transgender athletes is next on the Republicans list of Greatest Hits Against The Trans Community but this recent ad by Ted Cruz is on another level. Not only is this amplifying fear, it’s also a lie (the girls in the ad are not transgender) and it’s using their images without permission. Oh, and they are under the age of 18 and they, or their parents, did not give consent. The party of protecting children, indeed.

But it’s clear that protecting children isn’t their priority as evident by using images of children without permission. The priority is condemning a minority community. Principals be damned.

You may be thinking that bathroom laws and sports have nothing to do with you. This may be true but keep in mind that bathrooms and sports are not where this ends. We’ve been seeing laws about access to healthcare being stripped away or the banning of books because a character in it is non-binary or being unable to change the gender on your passport or driver’s license.

And again, you may be thinking that all of this still doesn’t apply to you. You may not pursue HRT, you might not read, or you may not legally change your gender.

Listen.

All of this is targeted towards our community. This will not end with healthcare bans or the removal of books from libraries. The Odessa law could easily “evolve” into prohibiting people from being in public presenting as a gender that is different from the one on their birth certificate. Think I am exaggerating? Recently we were told by Republicans that “Roe V Wade” was settled law and would not be overturned but that was a lie.

Essentially I don’t think that anything is off the table when it comes to us being persecuted.

“But I am just a crossdresser!” You might be thinking. “I don’t care about any of this.”

We as a community understand the nuances of gender identity. We understand that there is a difference between a guy wearing panties under his boy clothes and someone who is on estrogen and has legally changed her name.

But for the vast majority of the planet, there is no difference. These laws are designed to systematically eliminate us through fear and lies. Is it possible your coworker could report you to human resources, or even the police, if they see a glimpse of your panties or the impression of a bra strap under your boy clothes? I think this is absolutely a possibility.

For these reasons, and many more, he, along with the entire Republican party, have earned my vote against them.

Love, Hannah

P.S. I cannot wait to reject the absolutely insane comments from people who can’t figure out how to turn their caps lock off.

  1. Hi Hannah,

    So so true.

I would add that state and local elections are just important. Minnesota is a pro transgender state but that can change. We are so because of a Democrat Governor and Democrat controlled Senate. We need to keep it that way.

And the crazy people are trying to take over our school boards and allow transgender hate in schools. Most of us know what that was like. Let’s make sure we vote to keep the schools safe. Do a little research.

yet your politically speaking lost me as a follower! It’s not that you are democrat. It’s the attitude. You may have ruined this for yourself.

maybe you could play Taylor Swift in the background while you ban me….

  3. I recently read an interview with the pastor of a mega church. The journalist asked him why his congregation supported Trump even though he was known to be an unrepentant liar, serial adulterer, virulent racist, and so many other things that christians consider to be sins.

The pastor said that he tells his congregation to vote for the platform, not the man. He said that all people are flawed, and choosing one perfect candidate is impossible. So your only choice is to vote for the party whose platform most closely aligns with your personal values.

I found that comment to be both illuminating and terrifying. That explains why Trump – and the Republican party in general – keep holding on to power. Apparently personal accountability isn’t all that important to christians. That’s God’s job, I guess?

I’ll be listening to Fuck These Fuckin’ Facists by The Muslims (my favorite self-described black, brown, queer, trans punk rock band) on repeat for the next two days.

    1. Just like we don’t want to be stereotyped as a fetish, nor do Christians want to be stereotyped as Republicans or individuals that don’t follow their hearts. We all have brains so let’s use them

  4. i hope this is an open forum and not a demonization of people with opposite views. I couldnt disagree with you more. The media is dividing us not Trump. They take his words out of context and make soundbites.

i enjoy your new blog on xdress and look forward to hearing your insights

K Harris did promote trans surgeries on inmates and she admits it, thats her record.

    dictatorship is already upon us

eg. You will drive e cars, you will not eat meat, you will get vaccinated, etc

we dont allow FASB to dance in front of kindergarteners so why would i allow a transperson to do that

parents have the right to raise their children without hormone blockers if they choose; thats not anti trans its pro family

biologic men should not participate in sports with biological women-not anti trans its science/ men are too big and too strong and it creates an unfair competitive advantage

transpeople deserve every right of any other person per the constitution but it seems to me they have stepped out way too far.

so its orange man for me

    1. I am sorry, I am not a religious person, but Trump has no moral compass. Trump and the Trump Organization have been convicted of sexual assault, tax evasion, misusing charity funds, 34 felonies. He also lied while standing on the steps of Air Force One about paying off a porn star. He still continues to lie and claim he won the election. He call the insurrection a love fest. He cheated on 3 wives, If anything went wrong while he was president or during his campaigns it’s Always someone else’s fault. He takes no responsibility for anything. I could go on for hours but hopefully you get the message, this coming from an Independent.

  7. Harris’s support of transgender is in response to a policy Trump signed off on when he was in office.

You are correct, parents have a right to raise their children without hormone blockers. Parents and doctors who believe hormone blockers are best for their children should have the same right.

No one is forcing you to get e cars or not to eat meat or to get vaccinated. Again, if you chose to do these things that is OK too.

And we agree transgender people should be allowed every right as every other American. They should have a right to marry, to get proper medical care, to be allowed to get an education without fear, etc.

I have no clue what FASB is.

  8. Very well said Hannah and I’m so happy you’re using your position as an influencer for such an important purpose. I don’t see this particular election as being Democrat VS Republican or differing ideologies of any kind so much as good VS evil and I dont know how good Kamala is but I know that Trump is PURE EVIL and needs to be stopped.

  9. My only comment here is I feel trans folks do have issues because of some questionable things we see from some very radical folks and those on the right use that against the trans community
As for me I vote based on my gas bill, my food bill, my energy bill.
The last four years have been an economic disaster under the democrats
I can’t vote for 4 more years of that

  11. I wrote on FB eight years ago Trump was a despicable person and would be a worse President. Unfortunately, I was dead on.

Can’t imagine anyone following your blog would support Trump but I guess if you limit your world to Fox News.

Rach, at least you signed your name to it but under Biden the US has done the best in the world recovering from Covid, which happened because Trump totally mismanaged the pandemic. The Democrats didn’t crash the car; Trump did.

Hopeful that tomorrow begins the repudiation of Trump and his minions, as millions of pissed off women get even at the ballot box.

  12. Rightfully so many folks despise Trump when he is such an ass when he says nasty things about certain people. But now-lo and behold we have hundreds of millions of us insulted by a President, Governor of the 4th largest state and a US Senator : Un American, garbage , and deplorable. No longer feeling the joy

  13. Many thanks for your thoughts on the Maga Ultra-Right and the need to vote Kamala President. The Trumpsters are another obstacle to overcome in our society. Freedom of expression is what makes our lives better. The phobia over males presenting as female needs to be dismissed. Perhaps generation Z will finally put that to rest.

  14. Despite what party you align yourself with and the issues that are near and dear to your heart, evil is winning in this country and that evil exists everywhere in the form of hate, judgement, violence, persecution, deviciveness, blame, bullying, and self importance.

I have watched this aociety slowly degrade over the past few decades. It is no longer partisan politics, these political flare simply conduits for the hate that exists in so many of us. This does not exclude the LGBTQ community.

Evil is cunning, subtle, and masks itself in righteousness.

The day has already arrived where many of us are shaking our heads at humanity.

If you were drowning and a boat pulled up to save you, would you ask them what their political position is, religious beliefs, sexuality, nationality, whether they eat meat? Same situation if you came upon a drowning person.

Most would say they would not, but then would try to morally crucify that person on dry land.

If you can truly look honestly at yourself, you will see where evil has taken root.

We are imperfect, but it is up to us whether we want to fan the flames of hate, or try to love, not like each other.
