The last ten days have been a whirlwind.
I traveled for work, voted, served on a jury, and the MN T-Girls had our monthly event.
And now the holidays are here.
I know that the winter holidays begin at the same time each year, but they always seem to sneak up on me. I suppose part of feeling caught off guard is I haven’t mentally shifted into this time of the year. I think that I need *something* to get that holiday feeling set into motion.
Thank goodness for The Grinch.
Last year I was invited to see the Children’s Theatre Company‘s production of ‘How the Grinch Stole Christmas’. And girl, that did the trick. My heart grew three sizes and I was ready to deck the halls.
But then a water pipe burst and destroyed our basement and that kind of killed the holiday spirit for the year.
I do my best to persevere and I really wanted to feel jolly for this upcoming season, and luckily The Grinch was there once again to help. The Children’s Theatre Company’s annual production of the aforementioned play opened this past weekend and it was just as charming and delightful as ever.

The eponymous character was played by the same actor (Reed Sigmund) as last year but he was sassier and as magnetic than ever. Even though he is a monster determined to ruin a holiday, he is still charismatic and delightfully grinchy.

The rest of the cast could have easily been in The Grinch’s shadow, but they stood out and held their own, particularly the actresses who played young Max and Cindy-Lou Who. I would love to credit them by name however I wasn’t exactly sure who played these characters at the performance that I attended. It’s common for multiple actors to play key characters, especially when the actors are still school age.

I have to say that the audiences in these productions really make a difference. The kids were loving The Grinch and reacting in a wonderfully engaging way.

Honestly, it was just what I needed to shift into the quieter but also a more hectic time of the year. I hope my heart stays three sizes larger through the next few weeks and that my basement stays dry.
