Last year, right around this time, I wrote about being super positive about, well, life. At the time people in the United States were starting to get vaccinated, spring was FINALLY coming to Minnesota (kicking and screaming all the while), and it felt like things were getting better. The pandemic had been devastating and traumatic but it felt that maybe, MAYBE our worst days were behind us.
And then like many things, it was two steps forward, one step back.
Things were better for a bit, and then two new variants appeared and things became really bad again.
But things are… well, maybe not back to normal but new confirmed virus cases and vaccination numbers are both trending in the right directions.
And yes, I know some of ya’ll think the virus was a hoax so you don’t have to spam the comments with your perspective.
Anyway, things are still terrible, just in different ways. A lot of the news over the last two weeks have been really upsetting and it’s really caused me to think about EVERYTHING. I’ve been discouraged, scared, depressed, and angry. I try to be positive, or at the very least, not overly pessimistic. But God knows it’s been hard lately.
Here in Minnesota they are forecasting that the looooong string of cold days is finally ending. I don’t know where YOU live, but on Wednesday it’s supposed to be like fifty degrees which is like the warmest it’s been in FOREVER.
Spring does cheer me and it has a huge effect on my mood. A slight breeze is felt through a window that hasn’t been opened in months, the days are longer, the sun is warmer, the heels get higher (since I no longer have to navigate on icy sidewalks).
I knows things are scary but I hope there’s just a little sunshine in your day today.
Love, Hannah
Hi Hannah,
Love, love, love this post.
There is so much negativity in the world. Sometimes it is nice to be reminded of the many simple pleasures in life.
I live in Minnesota as well. With the temps in the 40’s yesterday is was wonderful to sit on the back porch with a hot cup of coffee then go play fetch with the puppies without freezing.
Today its snowing again but it is beautiful and still rather warm. I truly feel fortunate to live here.
Thank you for the motivation.
Jodi

There is always, always something to be positive about. We just have to train our minds to look for positives over negatives. The more we do that, the more we get into the “glass half full” mindset. We only go around once, how one chooses to spend it is entirely upon their outlook. Don’t get me wrong, no one is happy all the time (unless medicated) but learning from bad experiences and looking for daily positives makes your overall wellbeing better. 💋💋💋

Hi Hannah – hang in the honey. I remember when i was in grad school in Troy, New York. I had been a long cold winter, with lots of clear skies which mades it even colder. But then one morning it warmed up (?) to 32 degrees and the sun came out and Jimmy Hendrix came on the radio blasting real loud. I had no choice but to roll down the window and bang on the roof in shear delight – sending lot’s love to warm you up. Bri

I think this is why the saying live in the moment is appropriate. There is always something new or different each and every day
We all complain about the weather but honestly what can we do about it,
Yes I’m very much looking forward to my shorts and sandals again
I guess it’s time for a pedicure
