This past weekend the MN T-Girls celebrated Pride in Monticello, about an hour outside of the Twin Cities!
It was our first Pride event that wasn’t held in Minneapolis each June. We’ve been going to “Big Pride” for years but we’ve been wanting to be present at smaller celebrations outside of the Twin Cities for a while and I am so glad we did. We met so many lovely people and the volunteers couldn’t have been more amazing.
Monticello is significantly smaller than Minneapolis and I wasn’t really sure what to expect but I was delighted to see so many members and allies of the LGBTQ+ community. It’s especially heartwarming to see all the parents with their kids who are in the process of discovering who they are.
It was a fun (and very very hot day) but I managed to wear platform heels alllllll day and only stumbled once.
Thank you to everyone who stopped by, thank you to the volunteers, and enormous thanks to all the MN T-Girls who helped make this event a success. I am so proud to be part of this wonderful group.
