Is there anything more humiliating than an annual performance review?
In my career I don’t have “goals” beyond doing enough to stay employed so I can continue to pay more mortgage and to stay under the radar from my boss.
Everything is evaluated these days, everything is about metrics and top ten lists and the like.
Website rankings are interesting but they don’t always take into consideration a blogger’s (are we still called that??) “goal”. What I mean is that my goal with my website is to post whatever I want and to have fun doing it. Over the course of a few weeks I may post anything from a deep, thoughtful post about identity, a hopefully helpful response to an “Ask Hannah!” question, a silly “One Minute with Hannah McKnight” video, or whatever the MN T-Girls are up to.
If that is my goal, then bitch I am THRIVING. My website is exactly what I want it to be.
I don’t have a goal of increasing web traffic annually or anything like that. I am not trying to be Number One Blogger or whatever. When I see lists or rankings of bloggers like myself I am curious as to where (and if) I am placed, but regardless of how high or low I am, I don’t let it inflate my ego (as if it could get more inflated) or dull my sparkle.
That being said, let’s take a look at where Feedspot has placed me in two different categories as compared to last year.
For 2026, I am number 23 for the Top 25 Transwomen Blogs.
In 2025 there was a similar category but a different number of bloggers and I was number 34 for 35 Best Trans Woman Blogs and Websites. I keep circling the drain regardless of the number of bloggers they are ranking lol.
For 2026, I am number 51 for the 80 Best Transgender Blogs to Follow in 2026.
Like last year, there was a similar category and I was ranked number 53 for 90 Best Transgender Blogs and Websites.
I am not really sure how these numbers are crunched or how these rankings are determined. For example, Frock was a magazine that I wrote for years ago and their website doesn’t even exist anymore, but they are ranked number 47. Not that I care about these rankings but it’s funny to be ranked lower than a website that doesn’t even exist anymore. It’s like losing an election to a dead person.
I do think lists like these can be beneficial though. We know that we as a community can use support or there’s no lack of resources out there. These lists can help with finding support and friendship. These lists can also provide a variety as well. I post a lot of different types of things, but if that’s not your thing, you can probably find something on these lists that click with you.
I am grateful to be on these lists though. Again, I am not sure how they are chosen but at the very least it must mean that my website has some value to the very community I am lucky to be a part of. I appreciate every visit, every follower, and (almost) every comment, lol.
Thank you for letting me be a part of your day.
Love, Hannah
Such weird lists. But yeah, don’t let your ranking get you down, Hannah! You’ll always be number 4 in my list! 🥰
